Shavei Shomron is a modern orthodox settlement in Northern Shomron. The Yishuv was established Succot 5737 (1977) by a group of young families from the Netanya area. The settlement is in the
vicinity of the ruins of Shomron, the capital city of the kingdom of the ten tribes, hence the name Shavei Shomron, returning to Shomron.
To date, about five hundred families live in the settlement. The make-up of the community is varied, with some of the families being religious and others secular. In the past few years, there has been a dramatic increase in residents. Many young couples and children of the founders have settled in the Yishuv. Additionally, there is a plan to build new apartments in Shavei Shomron.
The current mikvah is over forty years old and has plumbing and technical faults. Therefore, Merkaz Le'Taharat Ha'Mishpacha undertook to renovate the existing facility and redesign it as a modernized, aesthetically beautiful premise. The renovated mikvah will be enlarged to meet the growing needs of the community.
